Lav Diaz, From What Is Before
Filmhuis Cavia, Amsterdam
On Sunday 14 June is in relation to Curatorial Programme Final Project exhibition My Time is Not Your Time a film screening from Lav Diaz new film From What Is Before at Filmhuis Cavia.
From What Is Before is a picture of what was lost – and what was killed – in the years leading up to dictator Ferdinand Marcos’ 1972 declaration of martial law in the Philippines. At their best, Lav Diaz’s films reveal just how much others leave out. Their protean beauty and moral complexities are matched by heroic running times challenging the narrative of time in the language of cinema. The film screening co-presented with Jeffrey's Underground Cinema with an introduction by alternative film curator, Jeffrey Babcock.
Duration film: 334 minutes
Address Filmhuis Cavia: van Hallstraat 52-1HG, Amsterdam
