Curatorial Programme 2023 – Listening to an anthology of collectively stirred jamming as a living, breathing and stretching mechanism of sharing(s)
16:00–18:00
an anthology of collectively stirred jamming as a living, breathing and stretching mechanism of sharing(s) is a music record, basically an archive of Tropical Tap Water’s jammings. A metaphysical compilation of energy. An unfolding process that took over almost two years, in Amsterdam, from 2020 to 2022. We are a flowing group of cultural workers who travelled to the North, where we encountered and recognized each other as fragments of the South.
Inherently, we understood jamming as a very singular fleeting experience but always as a collective process of soundgularization. This album is an epic poem too, a poignant gesture melted with quiet jammings, a mixer fried on radio dramas at Radio Al Hara, featuring lumbung harvesting’s songs and many careless whispers in the form of a vinyl record. It contains different audio recordings of jamming sessions, each one with its own cold-war detective movie character. Some that seems recorded with a burner phone in a jar, some that sounds like the transcription of non-aligned sexy-spy ears dancing and others that looks like a foggy cassette tape which is interrogating the interrogator.
Along with the vinyl, if you are curious, we include some texts from our jamming conversations in a booklet. Please come to listen together with some of the people who participated in the album and who will share some words on jamming.
