Curatorial Programme 2023 – Take 4

An unruly student knocks on his desk to get the attention of his distant teacher, his image of authority. It is an act of conspiring around sounds of resistance. "First case, Second Case" by Abbas Kiarostami is part of the director's early oeuvre in which he practices in preparation for a catastrophe. Made in the spring of 1979, not long after the overthrow of the Shah, the film looks at friendship and solidarity as integral parts of revolutionary organizing.

Throughout her practice, Natascha Sadr Haghighian explores questions of collectivity and community. Her work takes form in installations, video and audio works, as well as performative interventions to imagine infrastructures and conditions of collectivity. Departing from current and historical events, the artist addresses mutual interdependencies, spaces of action, and the complex scopes of technology, politics and systems of value creation.
