Hiwa K (1975)
Omschrijving
Via zijn artistieke praktijk verwerpt Hiwa K (Koerdistan-Irak, 1975) normatief esthetische definities door alternatieve artistieke mogelijkheden te onderzoeken, waaronder gesproken geschiedenissen, sociale confrontaties en politiek geladen situaties. Zijn projecten waren te zien op documenta 14, de 56ste Venetië Biennale en Manifesta 7 en bij befaamde kunstinstellingen zoals New Museum, New York; Serpentine Gallery, Londen; KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin en M HKA, Antwerpen.

For De Appel (editions) #02, Hiwa K has created a special presentation of One Room Apartment, which is both a photo of a new house located in Iraqi Kurdistan and a large-scale sculptural installation. It consists of a photograph (24x18) , a sketch and a short text by the artist and a certificat in a box (3.2x20x25.5). Edition of 25.
