April 28:
'The performance space has been transformed into a bar - including a bartender, juke-box, draft beer, tables and chairs. This bar opens at 9 p.m. and closes at 11 p.m.. I am not visibly present in the bar; in fact I am on the balcony in the same performance room and cut off from the scene downstairs by a black cloth. Apart from the usual sounds in a bar (talking, laughing, tinkling of the glasses), I introduce other sounds like muzak, live-streetsounds come directly into the bar, I sing and speak live through the microphone. Every now and then the background-music is mixed with other sounds from a different bar, the sound of De Appel's frontdoor opening and closing, live or pre-recorded conversations, etc.
April 29:
The second night, seated on the spot where the barcounter was installed the night before, I am talking about the ongoings of the previous evening. I am wearing a wide, light-blue dress, its ends attached to the wall and the floor (having the form of a circle). Under the dress the sound set-up is installed consisting of tape-recorders, a 'kraak' organ, cymbals, bells, a tambourine, a small microphone, amplifiers and sound boxes. The account that I'm giving about the night of April 28 consists of the experiences which others have related to me; I myself was not present to see what actually took place. I exaggerate some details and talk also about my impressions which I had through the sound during the first night. A rather distorted story develops, altered by some singing and dancing. During the action - because of drinking wine - I get into the same state of mind (and trouble) as some people did the night before.' (Moniek Toebosch, press release De Appel, April 1978.)
