Until March 29 de Appel arts centre will display various relics of the visits of Laurie Anderson to the Netherlands.
In 1976, Laurie Anderson send a letter to de Appel arts centre to present herself as a performance artist. Wies Smals, founder of de Appel, responds enthusiastically and on May 21 and 22, 1977 Laurie Anderson presented the performance "For instants - Part 5". Until May 31 also an exhibition was shown photographic works that Laurie has brought to the Netherlands.
Antje von Graevenitz remembers that the first evening only five people were present: Helen van der Meij, Wies Smals and Gerhard von Graevenitz and herself with their little daughter Julia.
Years later, Laurie Anderson appears in a full Carré in Amsterdam after she has become known internationally with the hit single "O Superman".
