Join us for one of the benefit evenings Apples in the Cosmos // Apples in the Sea in de Appel arts centre. These benefit events organized by the de Appel Curatorial Programme 2013-14, are both a creative way to support the realisation and production of newly commissioned artworks, and a prelude to the exhibition Father, Can’t You See I’m Burning? The evenings begin with a scripted guided tour of the building - performed by the six participants of the Curatorial Programme - and ends with a delicious amuse bouche, and two-course dinner in Moes, bar and restaurant.

Apples in the Cosmos // Apples in the Sea will enact a collection of gestures offered by over a dozen artists, who have composed a specific set of instructions to be played out during the evening. From the staging of a joke to the reading of the tarot cards, each artist has thoughtfully composed an instruction for your hosts to perform. These gestures will be presented alongside scenes from the history and the archive of de Appel arts centre.

The cost of the ticket includes the tour, dinner, one complimentary drink, a series of unique performances, and a special gift to take home. All funds raised will support the realization and production of newly commissioned artworks for the upcoming group exhibition Father, Can’t You See I’m Burning? This exhibition opens on 25 April, and is curated by the six participants of the Curatorial Programme 2013-2014: Renata Cervetto, Kris Dittel, Lara Khaldi, Emma Panza, Aneta Rostkowska and Kate Strain.

Special gestures are offered by artists Liesbeth Bik, Marinus Boezem, Justin Gosker, Young Hae Chang Heavy Industries, Jan Hoeft, Krõõt Juurak, Sarah van Lamsweerde, Ieva Misevičiūtė, Robertas Narkus, Michael Portnoy, Jan Rothuizen, Reinaart Vanhoe, Barbara Visser, and Katarina Zdjelar, amongst others.
