Nieuwe Spiegelstraat 10 Closed

With the upcoming relocation in mind, there will not be any new exhibition at our building on the Nieuwe Spiegelstraat. The "Bal Masque - A Performative Party", that took place on December 31, 2008, was the final public event organized by de Appel at our current location. We would like to thank all of you that joined us in bidding the building farewell.

During 2009 de Appel will, without an exhibition space at our disposal, make its presence felt through gesture, word and text. This disembodied programme will consist of performances,lectures and symposia at various locations, under the title "The Future Will Last Longer Than The Past". The first event of this programme will be a lecture on January 21 at Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam entitled "New Subversion", as part of the The Old Brand New lecture series.

Currently de Appel is negotiating with Gemeente Amsterdam about its new 'home'. These negotiations are currently ongoing. In September 2009 de Appel is expecting a directiorial decision that will finalize the choice for our future location.

From April 1st until the end of 2009, de Appel will be stationed at a temporary office space.
