‘Louis XIV dances is the title of a multimedia project which Rudiger Schöttle, the Munich gallery director, recently showed in the Zürich Kunsthalle; a current 'Gesamtkunstwerk' based on the staging of baroque of theatre. Semblance, pose and theatricality are elements which here form the decors of works by contemporary artists such as Jeff Wall, Dan Graham and Glenn Branca. The courtly gathering of the dancing Sun King mirrors the present-day and for Schöttle also forms the metaphor for the contemporary state. This project's subtitle A Bestiary of Art and Architecture is also the working title of a new production which Schöttle will present at the end of this year. Negotiations are underway with PS l in New York and Centre Pompidou. De Appel, which is supporting Schöttle in this production, hopes to present the work in the Netherlands, possibly as the European première.’ (‘Living sculpture’, Newsletter De Appel, 2 (1987) 1.)
