Jana Haimsohn "Ausdruckstanz"

Haimsohn is trained in classical ballet, modern dance, tai chi and classical vocal technique. She blends all these disciplines during her performances, creating an amalgam of experimental song and dance. For Ausdruckstanz, she repeatedly walked from one side of the room to the other and then ran back again. While doing so she recited a text in which she critically exposed her self-image. To conclude the performance, Haimsohn beat rhythmically on a drum, and at the same time vocalized with vibratos, yodelling and sliding tones, as in certain vocal and meditation exercises.
