Luciano Castelli "Solarium"

For three days (on May 30 & 31 and June 1) at 9 and 4 p.m. respectively, Castelli performed Solarium in De Appel. In the performance space a projection screen, a sunlamp and a radio had been placed. Castelli entered the space, dressed in a burgundy silk kimono and slip. He switched on the sunlamp, lay down on the floor, opened his kimono and tanned his front and back for three minutes. Meanwhile the radio played popmusic and slides of the artist as a transvestite were projected on a screen, that stood next to the sunbathing Castelli. This slide show and other works by Castelli were exhibited in De Appel through June 22.
