During Museum Night, De Appel opens the doors of Broedplaats Lely, the building in Nieuw-West where more than 100 artists and art institutions live and work together. De Appel works closely together with its new neighbors, such as the independent institute for electro-instrumental music STEIM. Several performances, sound installations and interactive art works are presented in Broedplaats Lely. De Appel has also invited several of the residents of Lely to present performances throughout the building.
Visit De Appel exhibition Hiwa K: To remember, sometimes you need different archeological tools and FOOTNOTES #2, the archival exhibitions that shows artists dealing with violence throughout the history of De Appel. In the hallway of De Appel, curator and Ongehoord record label founder Jeroen Vermandere presents a reinterpretation of the 1980s sound piece Massive Trance by Marien van Oers. The performance will be executed by performer Arie De Fijter.
At the invitation of De Appel, artist Caroline Ruijgrok has put together a dynamic programme for Mueum Night, in which she works together with the artists living at Broedplaats Lely. During the evening, presentations and performances will be presented by Aurélien Lepetit, Jacob Dwyer, Giovanni Giaretta, Minne Kersten, Laura Klinkenberg and DAY collective. Wander through the hallways of Broedplaats Lely and discover presentations about current social issues and interactive installations and performances.
STEIM presents the results of a study by Cilia Erens, titled Time Lapse China, as well as the New York Series by Marco Barotti and Fedde de Berge's interactive sound work Of Nature And Things. Finish the evening at MixTree Cantina for cocktails, bites and ambient beats by ETSUKO.
