During Museum Night 2018, Broedplaats Lely will transform into a psychedelic world full of fantasy creatures, poetry, memories, bodies, and potions. De Appel takes you into the wonderful world of contemporary art, the imaginative fantasies of performance artists, and creativity of our fellow human beings.

De Appel presents: IT IS HERE / THIS WILL LAST FOREVER, the first solo exhibition by Ben Russell + LOOPS by curator Faysal Mroueh with 5 performances and 3 participatory performances by Broedplaats Lely + ICK with the dance performance THE THREE GRACES by CHRONOS + DE KROKANTE APPEL by SNACKBARLIFE in Mixtree.

Following the invitation of the Cypriot artist Faysal Mroueh (1987), a group of young international artists will perform in different spaces on the ground and first floor of Broedplaats Lely. For two hours, the performances can be experienced simultaneously:

Bea McMahon (IRL, 1972) Knot Me, a performance about knotting and untying in which time and space are living entities.

Michiel Huijben (NLD, 1985) presents What exists is good, an exploration of architecture based on childhood memories and his experiences in the area of ​​his home and studio in the city.

Müge Yilmaz (TUR, 1985) The Water, The Soil, the Jungle is a tableau vivant about the relationship of non-speaking creatures, somewhere between plants, humans, and animals, with their environment.

Daniel Vorthuys (NLD, 1990) presents his vocal improvisation tennis, in which the poet sings nonsense words cut through by the typical cried tennis players yell at each other during matches.

Claudia Pagès (Barcelona, ​​1990) Her Hair is an expanding short story with hair in the leading role. The hair of the body as a producer of repulsive material and hair as a queer matter.

Alina Ozerova (Moscow, 1983) Take me, bring me with takes you on a journey through a physical experience of sound. Underlying this exploration of the vulnerability of our senses in a helpless body is the military conflict in Eastern Ukraine.

Dop Shot Bar with toppings and stacking performance is a collaboration between Sjoukje Dijkstra, Malwina Kowalska and Miroslaw Zach. How do objects, magic potions, human objects and movement on a small and large scale relate to other elements in space?

CHRONOS with The Three Graces
Location: Broedplaats Lely, STEIM Studio 3
Time: 8-8.30pm

Following the invitation of De Appel, ICK Amsterdam is programming the dance performance The Three Graces by CHRONOS. In addition to creating performances, the ICK Amsterdam dance company and platform for contemporary dance initiates numerous education and research projects and supports emerging choreography talents, such as the CHRONOS collective. In The Three Graces, the paintings of Raphaël, Botticelli and Rubens inspire the dancers to reinterpret the seductive poses of the figure of the Graces.

SNACKBARLIFE presents De Krokante Appel

Snackbarlife is back and transforms De Appel into a snackbar! Started as a joke on Instagram by Janine van Oene and Liza Nijhuis, Snackbarlife has grown into a popular snack party. Together with the multidisciplinary artists Anan Striker and Maarten Nico, they will host an evening filled with special snackbar pearls:

Ben Russell IT IS HERE / THIS WILL LAST FOREVER

Ben Russell's first solo exhibition in the Netherlands shows the multi-sensory film installation Good Luck, in which Russell closely follows the everyday of miners in Serbia and Suriname. In addition, De Appel shows the short film Atlantis about the drowned mythical city, and the copper sound sculpture Good Luck (Echo), which resonates audio fragments from the installation.
