Chris Burden "Art and Technology"

The invitation for Burden's performance / exhibition Art and Technology said: 'start at 1 o'clock p.m., it will last long...'. Eventually the performance lasted for four days on end. At De Appel Burden constructed a car of his own design, that he had built previously in Los Angeles in three months time. The car was dismantled and transported by airfreight to Amsterdam. Burden intended to drive to Paris, to exhibit the car at Galerie Stadler. Unfortunately he couldn't obtain a licence, so the car had to be transported to Paris.
