Esther Tielemans (1976) paints paradisaical landscapes that are as seductive as they are confusing. The use of gloss paint and epoxy resin confirms this contrast by creating an attractive yet at the same time unreal appearance. Her panels can sometimes assume enormous proportions, reaching to the edges of the wall or as floor and corner constructions. The experience of space and architecture plays a role in the construction and is apparent in recent works in the depiction of interiors with views through to the landscape, screens and 'paintings in paintings'. Het werk van Tielemans biedt het publiek een theatrale confrontatie waarbij de toeschouwer een actieve rol krijgt toebedeeld; men kan zich letterlijk door het landschap bewegen en er door heen lopen.
