Kunstschooldag 2017

30–31.03.2017
00:00
de Appel, Schipluidenlaan 12, Amsterdam

In 2017, De Appel participated in the Kunstschooldag[en] again and received 240 elementary school students from all around Amsterdam on March 30th and 31st.

The first day consisted of the programme De Appel Thinks in which students visited Broedplaats Lely, the new location of De Appel. Here, the students learned what a broedplaats [breeding place or creative incubator] is and met with photographer Vera Duivenvoorden. She explained the students what the difference between a selfie and a group photo entails. Where will you position yourselves? What creates a beautiful image? When are you content as a group? The students left with a unique and unforgettable portrait of their class.

On the second day, during De Appel Acts, the students visited the exhibition of Spanish artist Antoni Muntadas together with the curater of this exhibition, Niels van Tomme. Muntadas created video art about changes in higher education from the perspective of teachers and students. The groups of children first did a guided tour and afterwards there was time for discussion: are things going well at your school or is it time for a change? What is the opinion of your teacher? What would he/she want to do differently?
