For de Appel, art and education are inextricably linked. The Embedded Art program acts as a platform where art, learning and thinking come together and continually challenge each other. The programs and projects explore how art can provide a space to reflect, transform and connect. The program provides a dynamic environment where artists, communities and educators meet to explore new forms of learning and knowledge sharing.
At de Appel, we see art as a means to build relationships, share knowledge and provide a platform for voices that are otherwise not heard. Inclusivity, co-creation and the sharing of perspectives are at the heart of this process. By having children, youth and adults collaborate with each other and with artists, we gain new knowledge and insights. The program is an invitation not only to understand art, but to use art as a means to explore new ways of thinking and to make complex issues tangible. Through workshops, lectures and participatory projects, we create places where critical thinking, personal growth and social engagement come together. We don’t search for answers but look for connections – for creating new structures and opening up possibilities. Art is used as a powerful tool to together explore how we can contribute to change and connection.
The Embedded Art program is a space for encounter and experimentation, where new forms of seeing and thinking are central. It invites you to look differently at the structures of society, at yourself and at others. By providing a stage for stories and knowledge that often remain underexposed, new relationships and communities are built. Here, diversity and inclusiveness are promoted not only as values, but are integrated as living practices and built together.
