Oto Hudec Walk Between Trees

22.04.2016
Meeting point de Appel, Prins Hendrikkade 142, Amsterdam

Preceding the opening of Rien ne va plus? Faites vos jeux! at de Appel arts centre Slovak artist Oto Hudec will conduct Walk Between Trees with the audience.

Oto Hudec: ‘Walking on is slow and “ineffective”, comparing to motorized transport. Often, I am late on meetings. Walking offers time to observe the surroundings, or a time for myself. Walking is a moment when one is not working, is not online and often alone. It is not surprising that one of the forms of meditation is a walking meditation. For me it is a time to think.’

Trees in the city are silent warriors and observers of the rapid changes. Notably a tree is usually planted out in honor of the significant event or undertaking. Strangely enough the history of the city and even nation could be traced through the history of trees. Thence the walk is the way to get to know the city but also to slip out daily routine.
